The Magic Square and Symmetric Compositions Ii
نویسنده
چکیده
Abstract. The construction of Freudenthal’s Magic Square, which contains the exceptional simple Lie algebras of types F4, E6, E7 and E8, in terms of symmetric composition algebras is further developed here. The para-Hurwitz algebras, which form a subclass of the symmetric composition algebras, will be defined, in the split case, in terms of the natural two dimensional module for the simple Lie algebra sl2. As a consequence, it will be shown how all the Lie algebras in Freudenthal’s Magic Square can be constructed, in a unified way, using copies of sl2 and of its natural module.

The number of “magic” squares and hypercubes
We define a semi-magic square to be a square matrix whose entries are nonnegative integers and whose rows and columns (that is, lines) sum up to the same number. A magic square is a semimagic square whose main diagonals also add up to the line sum. A symmetric magic square is a magic square which is a symmetric matrix. A pandiagonal magic square is a semi-magic square whose diagonals parallel t...

Keywords: Self-orthogonal Latin square Strongly symmetric Magic square Yang Hui type a b s t r a c t In this paper, a strongly symmetric self-orthogonal diagonal Latin square of order n with a special property (* SSSODLS(n)) is introduced. It is proved that a * SSSODLS(n) exists if and only if n ≡ 0 (mod 4) and n ̸ = 4. As an application, it is shown that there exists a Yang Hui type magic squar...

متن کاملObtaining relations between the Magic Formula coefficients and tire physical properties
This paper introduces a technique that relates the coefficients of the Magic Formula tire model to the physical properties of the tire. For this purpose, the tire model is developed by ABAQUS commercial software. The output of this model for the lateral tire force is validated by available tire information and then used to identify the tire force properties. The Magic Formula coefficients are o...
